JEFF PERRET, DVM | Contributing Writer - "Pet Points"
With over 1/3 of all US households owning a dog or cat, Slidell Magazine felt it was important to include a voice for our furry family members within our pages. Our search for an author for “Pet Points” was a short one! Dr. Jeff Perret has been the veterinary for Slidell Magazine Editor Kendra Maness for nearly twenty years! Starting back in 1998, when Kendra owned pet boarding/grooming facilities and began her pet rescue and adoption volunteer work, she became a regular client (and friend) of Veterinary Medical Center. Since then, Dr. Jeff has cared for more than 200 of Kendra’s foster dogs and cats!
Dr. Jeff Perret was born in New Orleans LA and raised in the Lower 9th Ward and in neighboring Arabi, LA. He attended St. Maurice School, and is a proud alumnus of Holy Cross High School. He graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and earned his DVM degree from the prestigious LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. While in vet school, he married his childhood sweetheart Lisa, and was fortunate enough to become the veterinary student care-taker for Mike IV and then Mike V, LSU’s live tiger mascot. Dr. Perret was a partner at Northlake Veterinary Hospital in Mandeville, LA for five years before purchasing Veterinary Medical Center on Robert Blvd in Slidell in August 1997. He and Lisa have 2 daughters and 2 sons. He has been honored to care for the dogs and cats of his Slidell clients for the last 19 years.
