Scarlett Maness | Contributing Writer
Scarlett Maness grew up reading Erma Bombeck, Lewis Grizzard and Andy Rooney. This influenced her sarcastic take on everyday life and the way she writes. "My grandparents always encouraged my creativity - writing, painting, designing. I started writing poetry in grammar school. Painting a picture with words that spark the imagination is my favorite creative outlet." Scarlett is a nurse of 36 years, has a degree in design, is a creative writer, and a budding artist. Her artwork, The Infantry, was proudly featured on the May 2021 edition of Slidell Magazine. She served as a correctional nurse for 15 years, retiring as a commissioned deputy sheriff from St. Parish Sheriff's Office. Currently, Scarlett is a teacher substitute in St. Tammany Parish Public Schools, working mostly with high school students in Slidell. Slidell Magazine is pleased to have this diverse contributing writer on staff. Look for Scarlett's humorous stories in every edition. |
